The Meru Trek is considered challenging due to the high altitude and rugged terrain. It requires a good level of physical fitness and some prior trekking experience.
The best months to trek Mount Meru are from June to February. The weather is generally dry and favorable for trekking during this period.
To prevent altitude sickness, it is important to acclimatize properly by taking it slow, staying hydrated, and following your guide’s instructions. Our itinerary includes acclimatization hikes to help with this.
During the trek, you may encounter a variety of wildlife including giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, and various bird species, especially during the game drive in Arusha National Park.
It is essential to pack warm clothing, sturdy hiking boots, a daypack, water bottle, headlamp, trekking poles, sunscreen, sunglasses, and personal medications.
