Island Vibes

Access Tanzania's Hidden Island

Mafia Island lies south of Zanzibar and is reached by short flight from Dar es Salaam. Flights land at Mafia Island Airport (KMFA), about 15 minutes from Kilindoni, the island’s main town.

Ferries are less reliable, so air travel is best. Most visitors stay near the western coast, close to Chole Bay, which is part of the Mafia Island Marine Park.

Travel between lodges is by boat or 4×4. While small and remote, Mafia offers a well-connected airport, eco-lodges, and experienced local guides, making it both accessible and authentic for ocean-loving travelers.
