Mauly Tours & Safaris was founded in 1983 in Moshi, Tanzania, as a proudly Tanzanian, family-owned company with a simple vision: to share the beauty, culture, and wilderness of Tanzania with the world through genuine, responsible travel.
The journey began when Salim Mauly established Mauly as a small airport shuttle service, transporting travelers between Kilimanjaro International Airport and Moshi. At a time when tourism infrastructure in northern Tanzania was still developing, Salim recognized the growing need for dependable, locally operated transport for visitors arriving to explore Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding region.
Following the passing of Salim Mauly in 1985, Shariffa Mauly courageously continued to build the company while raising their four daughters. Through determination and resilience, she expanded Mauly Tours internationally, forming long-lasting partnerships and earning a reputation for reliability, integrity, and excellence in Tanzania tourism.
Over the decades, Mauly Tours grew from a small local operator into a respected destination management company, specializing in tailor-made safaris, Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru treks, cultural experiences, and beach holidays across Tanzania. The company later expanded its services to include regional East African travel, offering experiences in Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda.
Today, Mauly Tours remain 100% Tanzanian-owned and family-run, with the next generation actively involved in continuing the Mauly legacy. While the company has evolved with modern travel standards and global expectations, it’s core values remain unchanged: personalized services, deep local expertise, sustainability, and a genuine passion for showcasing Africa responsibly.
