We believe that it is essential to experience both the natural wonders of Rwanda as well as experience its unique culture.
As such, your afternoon will be spent at the Iby’iwacu Cultural Village. Here you will learn about traditional life in Rwanda from ex-poachers who have turned their backs on poaching and instead have chosen to engage in educating visitors.
Touch down in the beautiful city of Kigali!
On arrival, you will be met at the airport by one of our staff members and taken to your hotel. Our friendly staff will give you a tour briefing and answer any questions that you have about your trip.
You’ll start your day with breakfast at 8.30 am, after which you will be greeted by your local guide who will assist you with checking out before taking you on tour around the city. Kigali is one of the most exciting cities in East Africa. It won’t take you long to realize that it is a little more fast-paced than the slow-going vibe you will have experienced in other cities.
Your driver will take you to sites such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial and Inema Arts Center. Most notably the Memorial is a must-see for visitors to Kigali. This moving tribute to the heartbreaking events of 1994 is a true testament to the strength of the Rwandan people and will teach you something of the global politics of today.
After your tour of the city, you will have lunch in the city at around 12.30 pm. You can expect a mixture of western cuisine heavily influenced by French culture as well as some local dishes.
At 1.30 pm, you will leave the city and head to Kigali International Airport for a helicopter flight to Nyungwe National Park. Your flight will depart at 2.30 pm arriving at 3.15 pm at the one and only Ngungwe House helipad. Here you will check in at your lodge and enjoy a hearty dinner.
Today you will rise with the birds at 5.00 am! You will receive a packed breakfast and head to the park headquarters for your trek briefing. Today you are going to trek in search of chimpanzees. You will enter the evergreen forest at 6.00 am for an experience like no other. You’ll hear the morning call of chimps welcoming you to the forest. Your long trek will reward you with the chance to see the chimps’ daily life unfold right before your eyes.
You will return to the lodge for lunch at around noon.
At 1.45 pm you will be transferred to the park headquarters for a beautiful canopy walk. The briefing starts at 2.00 pm in preparation for your guided walk at 3.00 pm. The canopy walkway is made up of three bridges and three towers; the total length amounts to 200m. A specialised park guide will help you traverse the canopies along the Iigishigishi trail. You will have the opportunity to learn all about the unique ecosystem surrounding you and why this rainforest is so crucial for Rwanda.
You will return to your lodge after your walk for an evening of leisure and another overnight stay.
At 7.30 am, after breakfast, you will check out of your hotel and proceed to Kibuye. You will arrive at around10.30am, ready to take to the water on the Ibiza cruise boat. You’ll cruise along the scenic Lake Kivu to the lakeside town of Gisenyi. Lunch will be served on board while you cruise leisurely to your destination.
When you arrive at Gisenyi our driver guide will be at the dockyard to meet you and transfer you to your hotel Gisenyi.
Today is the main event – Your gorilla trek awaits! You will meet for breakfast bright and early before proceeding to the park headquarters for your gorilla trek briefing at 7.00 am.
Your gorilla adventure will start at the park entrance at 8.00 am. The journey to the gorillas in itself will be an experience to remember. The Volcanoes National Park is made up of unique bamboo and evergreen forests, which makes for a beautiful trek. The highlight will, of course, be the moments that you share with the gorillas while they feed, play, and relax amongst the trees. You may even be lucky enough to spot a mother with it’s young, an altogether unforgettable experience!
Of course, all good things must come to an end. After a few hours exploring nature, you will head back to your lodge for lunch and check out at around 2.00 pm – ready for your next experience!

Today is the day we say goodbye to Rwanda. Depending on where your adventure is taking you next, you will head to the airport for your next flight.
