As the name suggests the lodge is located on the crater rim.
Ngorongoro Crater Lodge has a unique design inspired by the Maasai mud-and-stick homestead style. The rooms have roofs made of banana leaves and grass, and are decorated in colonial style. The architecture of the lodge is in itself rather unique in that it blends African and colonial styles.
The room decor features antiques, raw silk and leather, in colours that harmoniously blend in with the environment. Large fire bowls flank the entrance to the living and dining areas. Each room has a viewing deck from which views of the crater can be enjoyed.
