A less-crowded western approach to Kilimanjaro that starts at higher elevation and crosses the Shira Plateau's moorland and alpine desert on the way to Uhuru Peak (5,895m). Best suited to experienced hikers, it follows a 'climb high, sleep low' acclimatization plan and reports a roughly 85-90% summit success rate on the 7-day version. Two Moshi hotel nights bookend the trek.
