Itinerary for the Machame Route

📅 18th June

Arrival

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). You’ll be picked up and transferred to your hotel in Moshi. Meet your lead guide for briefing and gear check.

📅 19th June

Day 1: Machame Gate to Machame Camp

Drive to Machame Gate (1,800m), complete registration, then trek through lush rainforest to Machame Camp (2,835m).

🕒 Hiking Time: 5–6 hours
🏕 Accommodation: Machame Camp (Full Board)

📅 20th June

Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Cave Camp

Ascend into moorland with sweeping views towards Shira Camp (3,847m).

🕒 Hiking Time: 4–5 hours
🏕 Accommodation: Shira Cave Camp (Full Board)

📅 21st June

Day 3: Shira to Lava Tower then Barranco Camp

Trek to Lava Tower (4,650m) for acclimatization, descend to Barranco Camp (3,983m).

🏕 Accommodation: Barranco Camp (Full Board)

📅 22nd June

Day 4: Barranco Wall to Karanga Camp

Climb the Barranco Wall, traverse ridges and valleys to Karanga Camp (4,040m).

📅 23rd June

Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Base Camp

Final basecamp hike to Barafu (4,700m). Prepare for summit push.

Day 6: Summit Day

Midnight ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), then descend to Mweka Camp (3,100m).

Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate & Return to Moshi

Departure

Transfer to the airport or continue your adventure with a safari or beach holiday.
